The Department of Education Region XI – Learning Resources Management and Development System (LRMDS) has conducted the Reading Materials Assessment Workshop last August 19-25, 2016 at Sunny Point Function Plaza, Maa, Davao City.
Spearheaded by Regional LRMDS Manager, Dr. Melanie Estacio, the activity was aimed to evaluate existing contextualized learning resources and publish the final outputs on the LR central portal.
The first day started with the opening program attended by the Region and Division LRMDS Staff and Education Program Supervisors. The highlight of the program was the message of Dr. Edel B. Carag, Director III, Bureau of Learning Resources, where she presented the current status of DepEd and Learning Resources Development. She stated the possible delay of Grade 5 LRs which were presently in the form of Activity Sheets, and announced that there will be a competition on the Most Functional Library Hubs. She also said the DepEd is doing its best to answer the problems in the field and Alternative Learning System (ALS) is recently a major priority.
The second day was committed to the discussion of the Evaluation Tools of LRMDS which was thoroughly discussed by the Division LMRDS Managers. The rest of the days were spent for the actual evaluation of the selected materials as well as LR portal exploration.
The learning resources which passed the evaluation will soon be published on the LR central portal, while those which did not pass should be modified by the original teacher-writers before their online publication.
Two of the Kindergarten MTB-MLE Big Books of our division passed the evaluation namely; Espiho at Hagdanan. The Self-Learning Kits in Science. Mathematics, English, and Filipino for Grades 4-6 levels were given back to their authors for modification.
