The Department of Education, through the Bureau of Learning Resources (BLR), has conducted the ‘National Consultative Conference on the Development of Supplementary Materials and Development of Learning Hubs’ last July 26-28, 2016 at Ecotech Center, Lahug, Cebu City.

 

      The said activity was participated by the Regional LRMDS Supervisors, Regional CLMD Chiefs, and Division LRMDS Managers. It aims to gather information regarding the development and quality assurance activities of the teacher-developed contextualized materials by the Region and Division Offices and gain insights from the challenges and best practices in the implementation of their learning hubs.

 

      Ms. Susan N. Salazar, the LRMDS Manager of the Division of Davao Oriental, has attended the conference. With the initiative of Region XI LRMDS Supervisor, Dr. Melanie P. Estacio, the Davao Region was able to formulate its Regional Action Plan on the Development of Supplementary Materials. 

 

      The Creation of Self-Learning Kits (SLKs) and Big Books for K to 3 MTB were the two contributory sets of materials listed from our division. The SLKs were created by the chosen teacher-writers from the field as a result of joint partnership with Plan International , while the Big Books were created as part of Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) advocacy on developing Mother-Tongue Based (MTB) resources pursuant to DepEd Order 32, s. 2015 entitled ‘Adopting the Indigenous Peoples Education Curriculum Framework’.
